  June Bird night 2011

Veterinary surgeon Ari, dissected a chicken and explained the inner workings and organs.
Gladys told us about the best bits to put in soup and how to peel them.
This was very informative and everyone learned from it.

Thankyou to Ari and the North Warrandyte Veterinary Clinic.

After the nine floods, the following mud, and cancelled auctions and meetings. MDPS is back, and we are looking forward to a good year of shows, auctions and more. 80 birds were exhibited on the March bird night judged by Mr. John Betts, while Brian presented an informative chicken washing demonstration - the kids all loved this! We also welcomed some new members to the club.

The 2010 annual show included the Gladys Knight testimonial. Gladys was presented with a sash and shield in recognition of her contribution to the Mountain District Poultry Society and her many years of involvement in the poultry industry. Gladys kept us entertained with some of her best jokes, and some special friends made speeches.
It was an eventful day overall, with over 500 quality birds on show.

The first bird night on the 13th March was also a success,
and it was great to see everyone there, along with some terrific new members.
We had a wide variety of breed entries for judging by Mr. Ray Sharp,.
Ray was happy with the general standard, and feels that many birds will be improved (its nearly the end of moulting season!) by the time the show season begins.
Congratulations to all the winners on the night.

The start of our 2010 season kicked off with the auction on the 20th February
This proved to be a very successful event for the club.
Top priced lot on the day was a Standard Orpington sold for $82.00 The day was also extremely hot, which kept our President run off his feet keeping birds cool and well watered.
Well done Bruce,  See our “photos” page for some photos of the event.
